Isaiah 53:9-11 which says..
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
11 After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied ;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Matthew 12:40 which says....
40For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
--(The heart of the earth is used many time in Scripture to indicate the Heart of a man, which the Bible says numerous time is exceedingly wicked. Wicked is used four times in Scripture to describe Hell.)
Ephesians 4:9 which says....
9What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions.Luke 16:23 which says...
23In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
--(There is a footnote in the Bible that says Hell as it is used here is the Hebrew translation of Hades. Hades is suppose to be the Hebrew word for Hell, but this is not totally true, Hades is never used to describe a place of suffering, and Hell is definitely used to describe a place of long suffering)

I have not really thought about this question very much but the verses you found show it pretty clearly.

well, with these verses, it could have different meanings. With the one about Jonah, the heart of the Earth can refer to the grave. With the one about earthly regions, it could also literally mean the earth for the earth is not the Son of God's home. In the one in Ephesians, the word for Hell is probably the closest word for Shoel, which was the Hebrew word for the afterlife in Jewish culture. Shoel was a place where everyone went. In fact, there is debate that before Jesus came, there was no Hell as we call it today. We can discuss this more later.
